The unemployment rate has risen drastically in recent years, leading many of us to believe that it is nearly impossible to find a job in today's job market. This is simply not true. Unfortunately, this misnomer perpetuates unemployment.

Did you know that there are employers out there who simply cannot find good help? And did you know, furthermore, that the very reason for this is because the proper candidates do not believe that anyone is hiring? What a travesty!

It's true: there are many jobs available, and very likely many of these jobs are in your particular field of interest (or one closely related to your field). You may find this fact surprising, and you may still be incredulous. Read on!

Think about it: people get hired and fired every day at various businesses, for a variety of reasons. You can put yourself in that job market, if you choose to be.

Let's suppose your response to that is: I've already done that! I applied for umpteen jobs and couldn't even get an interview. Why didn't you get the interview? Didn't you know that it's who you know that generally helps you get a job?

So, then, what if I don't know anyone who works where I'd like to work? Good question! Here's the answer: get to know someone who works there! It's that simple. If the company you'd like to work for is a public business such as a store, restaurant or other retailer of some kind, you can simply become a faithful customer for a few weeks. You'll get to know the employees and eventually, you can simply just ask for a manager and get an interview (possibly on the spot).

This may sound too good to be true, and you may be thinking, It can't be that simple. Well, this is a proven formula. Ask anyone you know who is employed how they got their job. You can almost guarantee that they didn't send out a resume and sit by the phone and wait for it to ring.

There is a saying: Don't wait for your ship to come in-swim out to it! You have to go for your dreams. They aren't going to magically come to you. Once you realize that, you won't let anything stand in your way of getting what you want and need from this life. And if that is a job, reach out and grab it, and it's yours!

It's all in the mind, people! Don't let the rumors about the job market scare you. There are jobs available and you can absolutely do it! If you must lean on unemployment benefits for a time until you get hired, that's perfectly ok-that's what the system is in place for! But don't believe that there are simply no places hiring. It is not true!
